VILLAGERS CONSTRUCT 1500 STEPS IN 18 DAYS

Residents of Hunza valley claim to have constructed 1,500 steps after cutting through a mountain, at an extreme temperature of minus 15 degrees centigrade. Moreover, they completed the task in just 18 days.

The people living in the village of Galmat, including men and women, young and old, all worked together to complete the task.

People living in mountains are strong , both physically and mentally. They have strong determination. It is evident through their hard work and bravery, which they have displayed in constructing the hundreds of steps through the hilly passage.

Hunza is a mountainous valley in the autonomous Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. It lies in the northern part of Gilgit-Baltistan. In addition, it has borders with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the west. Moreover, Xinjiang region of China to the north-east.

Hunza Valley is a mountainous area in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Hunza was formerly a princely state. It had borders with China to the north-east and Pamir to its northwest. The state bordered the Gilgit Agency to the south, the former princely state of Nagar to the east. The state capital was the town of Baltit (also known asKarimabad). And its old settlement is Ganish Village.

Hunza is just 100 KM drive from Gilgit, and most people arrive by road and it takes almost 2 – 3 Hours to reach Hunza from Gilgit. The main bus stand is on the KKH Aliabad. There are booking agents in town for long distance buses & jeeps along the KKH. The journey from Islamabad can take as long as 24 hours.

Hunza Valley is also host to the ancient watch towers in Ganish , Baltit Fort and Altit Fort. Watch towers are located in heart of Ganish Village. Baltit Fort stands on top of Karimabad. Whereas Altit Fort lies at the bottom of the valley. Dating back to 8th century AD, a huge Buddha figure surrounded by small Buddhisatvas is carved on a rock. Borith Lake lies in upper Hunza and Rush Lake is located near Nagar.
